Use your growing legal knowledge to make an immediate, meaningful difference in people’s lives.

  • Mentorship and Networking
Work alongside experienced attorneys and advocates committed to mentoring the next generation of justice leaders.

  • Stand Out in Your Career
Demonstrate your commitment to public service, strengthen your résumé, and gain strong references for future opportunities.

Why Volunteer as a Law Student?

As of 2015, the New York State Court of Appeals requires all applicants seeking admission to practice law in New York to complete 50 hours of qualifying pro bono service.

At Center for Elder Law & Justice, law students and recent graduates can satisfy this requirement while gaining meaningful legal experience and making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable New Yorkers.

Whether you're interested in pro bono work, an internship, or ongoing volunteer service, we offer flexible, supervised opportunities that meet the court’s criteria.

  • Real client experience

  • Supervised by licensed attorneys

  • Eligible toward your 50-hour requirement
